The annual Phoenix Challenge Golf Tournament was held recently at Stonebridge Golf Club in Monroe, NC. This year’s event raised record funds to support flexo and graphic arts in education. With nearly 50 golfers and a great team of volunteers, the day was a real success, starting with outstanding weather.

The Captain’s Choice four-man scramble actually had a three-person team win this year. And, a long-standing donating foursome returned to claim second prize this year, which didn’t match their top finish in 2013.

The top teams for 2014 were:
1st place  – Jim Hughes, Jamie Forrest and Adam Sconyers
2nd place – Pat Hague, Bryan Robb, Eric Knowles and Gary Jones

The new course location chosen for 2014, Stonebridge, was a big hit among the golfers, who are consistent in their efforts to support the Phoenix Challenge’s on-going mission. The event is the result of many special sponsors who are proud to support graphic arts education and the future of our industry. This year’s event is notable as the number of sponsors continues to increase.

Some of the 2014 sponsors included: DuPont, Harper Corporation of America, Anderson & Vreeland, Esko, Nilpeter, Mark Andy, Phototype, Bobst, Sun Chemical, Max Daetwyler, Robbie Fantastic Flexibles, The ALC Group, W & H, Pamarco, Plastic Packaging, JR Cole Industries, Conversouce, Overnight Labels, PCMC, All Printing Resources, Uteco, Actega WIT, Flexo Concepts, ID Images, Flint Group, Flexon, Siegwerk Ink and CPCC.

The Phoenix Challenge Foundation continues to grow and expand because of this outstanding event and industry wide support. It is a an organization of dedicated professionals aimed at ensuring the viability of our industry through teaching practical flexo application, knowledge competitions and further education through scholarships and career development. It is the only one of its kind in North America. The foundation exists solely through generous donation made by industry supporters and businesses.
